Hawaii is one of the most visited places in the world. Over 9 million people visit Hawaii every year. 

We know that there are always some rules and regulations in every country. In the same way, there are some rules that every local or tourist needs to follow in Hawaii. 

When you visit Hawaii you will see rules written on the roadside, Beaches or Hill trails. 

But some rules are not written on roads, beaches or Hill trails. 

These rules are very important to know, and you should know about these rules.

Here is the list of rules that only a few people know about. But don’t worry I am here to give you knowledge about these rules that can increase your respect in Hawaii. And your tour can be more relaxing and enjoyable. 

1- Respect the Word “Aloha”

When you greet someone you always have to use words like “Good Morning” “Aslam-o-Alakum” etc. But if you are in Hawaii you have to use “Aloha” for greeting people. 

If you think “Aloha” is just a word of greeting you can be wrong. “Aloha” is the symbol of peace, faith, Love and respect. 

Locals of Hawaii Love to hear the word “Aloha” from tourists. 

If you think you always need to say “Aloha” then you are wrong. You can also say “Good Morning” or “Good Night”. Hawaii Locals are not fake they just love their culture so much

2- Always Respect the Land Of Hawaii

To maintain the beauty of Hawaii, every tourist should think about the next person coming here. 

Here is what you can do to respect the land of Hawaii.

Stay on marked Trails

When you are going hiking then make sure to be on the marked line of that trail. 

All the marked spots are for your safety. 

You can be in trouble if you do not follow this rule. Always ask your family to stay in line too. 

Don’t throw Rocks or take them to your home

When you are going hiking or any entertainment activity then don’t throw rocks from one place to another. Or don’t carry them in your bag so you can take them back in your home,

All these things are assets of Hawaii. It is illegal to take anything at home from Hawaii. 

Also, avoid throwing rocks in a waterfall or beach. 

Don’t touch Corals

Stay away from Corals. If you try to hurt them then it is against the rule of the Ocean ecosystem. 

Don’t step on it. Don’t try to break it so you can take them to your home. 

Also, don’t try to touch it. 

3- Respect the Culture of Hawaii

Here is what you can do to respect the culture of Hawaii. Hawaiian Locals love their culture so much. If you do not respect their culture then you will not be treated well by the locals. 

Learn Basic Hawaiian Words

One of the best ways to respect the culture of Hawaii is to learn some basic Hawaiian Words. 

If you are in Hawaii and met any locals. And you tell him you are from Hawaii in the Hawaiian Language. This makes them so happy.

Always encourage them and tell them how much you love their language. In that way, they will properly guide you, and you will have more options for entertainment. 

Respect Cultural or historical Buildings

Don’t try to break or hurt any part of the historical building. Historical buildings are the assets of Hawaii. 

If you try to break any brick or stole then local police can catch you, and you will be punished. It is also against human law to hurt any historical or cultural building. 

4- Always Be Calm and Have good behaviour

When you are visiting Hawaii or any other tourist spot it is very important to keep calm and act gently. 

Talk Slowly

The first way to win hearts is to talk slowly. Don’t talk in a loud voice. If you are in a public place you have to know that talking too much or loudly can frustrate other people.

Talk in the tune so your next person can understand you. This is the best way to be gentle in public places in Hawaii. 

Be friendly and have a smile on your face

When you are trying to meet someone in Hawaii, always be friendly. Don’t be rude. Always have a smile on your face. 

When you meet someone with a big smile, then you will also get a smile from them. 

Respect Personal Space

Don’t intercept in the personal space of anyone. Always be in your own space. Hawaii is a place for entertainment not to disturb people. 

If you feel someone is already on the chair then don’t try to pick it up and use it for yourself. This is not good behavior toward people. 

5- Beach and Ocean Rules to Follow

Beaches in Hawaii are the things that attract people. Without beaches, Hawaii is nothing at all. Always respect the beaches of Hawaii and follow the things below. 

Don’t touch sea Turtles

If you see a Green sea turtle on any beach of Hawaii then don’t try to touch it. It can hurt you. Yes, they look calm but if you try to disturb them, they can be wild.


Don’t feed wildlife

When you are doing beach activities you will eat a lot of Wildlife animals. If you think feeding them is a good thing to do, then you are wrong.

It is 100% against the rule to feed any wildlife. Stay away from them just watch them and get entertained

Take Plastic bags with you

If you decide to spend a day on the beach then you will have lunch with you. After lunch, always collect your rappers and plastic bags. If you see any plastic bag on the beach, take it with you or throw it in the basket.
